Tiers, bands, hearts and votes

Two numbers follow you around ShowX. Tier is what you have earned the right to play; it only goes up. Band is how you are performing lately; it goes up and down and decides who you share a stage with.

Talent score is the sum of the net votes you receive, show by show, capped at 50 per show so one packed night cannot mint a Headliner. It never goes down. Tiers never go down either; only a suspension for breaking the rules resets one.

Behind the band is a stage rating. Everyone starts at 1000. After each show, your rating moves according to how your net votes compared with the rest of that cast: above the cast average and you go up, below and you go down. Newcomers move faster so the first few shows find your level quickly. Hosts and co-hosts also gain or lose a little based on the audience's end-of-show approval, because the host owns the whole show's quality.

Your profile shows the band, the number, and the delta from every show you have played, so progress feels earned, like a game ladder.

Hearts

Hearts are the live signal. While a show is on, tap any performer's tile to send one; they are aggregated and shown on stage as counts. Hearts add to the performer's lifetime total and give a small rating bonus, capped per show so a viral moment is a nice bump rather than a rocket. Guests can send hearts too, at a lower weight.

Upvotes and downvotes

Votes are the considered signal. From the wrap of a show until 24 hours later, anyone who watched for at least two minutes or was cast can vote once per cast member.

A downvote counts half the voter's weight, is not available to accounts younger than seven days, and each voter can downvote at most two people per show. Your profile shows hearts, upvotes, downvotes and approval, the share of your votes that were up. A show's net score for you is clamped between −25 and +50; only the positive part feeds your talent score, so a bad night slows you down but never pushes your tier back.

How casting uses them

Tier gates roles: a role that needs Featured is never given to a Player, no matter how long they have queued. Band groups players: a show has a band target and players are drawn from a window around it. The window grows the longer you wait, so you always get cast eventually. Talent roles still go to the highest tier present inside the window. Producers can override any pick.

The effect is that Marquee shows get casts that perform at a Marquee level, Open shows are where people learn, and an Open show with one Marquee host is perfectly normal.

Keeping it fair

  • One vote per voter per person per show; a daily cap of 30 votes per voter.
  • Votes from the same device or network cluster aimed at one person collapse to one.
  • Producers can void a show's votes; strikes under the community guidelines can reset a rating or suspend a tier.
  • Hearts earned as a guest do not carry into a new account, so they cannot be farmed before sign-up.
