These terms are an agreement between you and [AppHaus LLC] ("AppHaus", "we"), operator of
ShowX at showx.apphaus.us and the ShowX apps for iOS, Android, macOS and Windows (the
"Service"). By creating an account or using any feature that requires one, you accept these
terms. You may watch shows without an account; by doing so you accept Sections 1, 8, 9, 11
and 12.
1. Who may use ShowX
You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the European Economic Area and the UK) to create an account, and at least 18 to appear on camera in a show unless a parent or guardian has accepted this agreement on your behalf through [the guardian consent flow / not offered at launch]. Accounts are personal and may not be shared or sold.
2. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for activity on your account. Tell us
at security@apphaus.us if you believe it has been compromised. You may delete your account
at any time in Settings; deletion completes after a 24-hour grace period (Section 10).
3. What ShowX is
ShowX lets people watch live shows and, if they join a queue, be randomly cast into a show. Cast members appear by camera and microphone, read lines from a teleprompter, play game mechanics, and are seen by the audience in the app and, when a producer enables it, on third-party platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, Kick or Facebook Gaming. Some roles may be played by AI understudies, which are always labelled "AI" on screen.
4. Appearing in a show: broadcast and likeness release
This is the most important section. When you join a queue you confirm that, if cast, you:
- Grant AppHaus and the show's producer a worldwide, royalty-free licence to capture, transmit, composite, record, rebroadcast and distribute your name, handle, likeness, voice, image and performance as part of that show, in the app and on the third-party platforms the producer streams to, including clips and promotional excerpts of the show.
- Understand the broadcast is live and cannot be unsent, and that third-party platforms keep their own copies under their own terms.
- May withdraw from future rebroadcast and clip use of a show by requesting it at
privacy@apphaus.us; we will stop using the recording ourselves within 30 days and ask the producer to do the same, but we cannot delete copies already published on third-party platforms or saved by viewers. - Will not appear with anyone else in frame who has not accepted these terms, and will not show other people's private information, documents or screens.
- Are performing voluntarily and will not be paid unless a producer has a separate written agreement with you.
If you do not want to be broadcast, do not join a queue. Watching never puts you on camera.
5. Conduct on and off stage
You agree to follow the Community Guidelines (legal/COMMUNITY_GUIDELINES.md), which are
part of this agreement. In short: follow the host, stay on script or in the spirit of the show,
no nudity, hate, harassment, threats, dangerous acts, illegal content, or impersonation; no
recording or doxxing other participants. Hosts may mute or remove you; producers may remove
you and void votes; we may suspend or terminate accounts. Ratings, tiers and bands are at our
discretion and may be reset to address abuse.
6. Content you create
Lines you improvise, chat messages, profile content, and formats or scripts you publish as a producer remain yours. You grant us the licence needed to run the Service (store, display, transmit, moderate) and, for published formats, a licence for other users to run them on ShowX. Do not upload content you do not have rights to. Show formats inspired by existing television programmes must not use their trademarks, logos, theme music or copyrighted scripts; formats in our catalogue are original scripts or public-domain works.
7. Producers, broadcasting and AI keys
If you are granted the producer role you additionally agree that you: are responsible for the shows you run and the platforms you stream to, including their terms; will keep stream keys and any AI provider keys you bring ("bring your own key") secure; are responsible for charges incurred under your own AI keys; will not use AI understudies to impersonate real people; and will honour withdrawal requests under Section 4.3.
8. Intellectual property and licence to the apps
The apps and Service are licensed, not sold. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to install and use the apps on devices you own or control, subject to these terms and, on Apple devices, Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement where it applies. You may not reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service. The ShowX source code is separately licensed under the MIT licence in the repository; these terms govern the hosted Service and the published apps.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is". Live shows involve other people and AI; we do not control what they say or do. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim warranties and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of USD 100 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits; they apply only as permitted.
10. Termination and deletion
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms. On deletion we remove your profile and personal data as described in the Privacy Policy; your appearances in already-broadcast shows are handled under Section 4.3, and your contribution to other people's ratings is kept in anonymised form.
11. Changes
We will notify you in the app before material changes take effect and ask you to accept the new version. If you do not accept, you may continue to watch anonymously but not use account features.
